Farewell from our Chief Residents, 2024-25

The most common question we have been asked in the past year is “Why did you want to be chief resident?” We all had individual reasons for becoming chief, but we shared the common desire to help shape the program that shaped us. During the last year, we have made several notable changes including eliminating 24-hour calls in the MICU and decreasing the caps on our inpatient teams to allow for a focus on education and patient-centered care for our residents. We challenged the residents through our recruitment case conferences and morning report to be curious and be bold. We hope you continue to ask “Why” and not fear being wrong as you learn and grow through the rest of your training.
There were 13 residents that had babies this year, including two of us (Luke and Marie) that have shown the support and camaraderie of our residents through numerous scheduling changes. We hope you continue to support each other and hold each other accountable through your work. The program is yours to shape and build a culture within. We are confident that you will continue to better the program and each other through the years.
Farewell,
2024-2025 Chief Residents
