Professional medical societies offer members education and networking opportunities year-round in addition to additional avenues for leadership and service beyond the walls of the institutions where they work. The Iowa Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) has had deep ties within the Department of Internal Medicine for decades, with faculty serving as chapter governor, being named as fellows or receiving other honorary recognitions.
Current Iowa ACP Chapter Governor and Professor in the Division of Hospital Medicine Katie Harris, MD, recently attended the national meeting of ACP and sent in some photos documenting not just the department’s (past and present) presence, but colleague physicians from across the state.
