Her familiarity with UI Health Care operations will be an asset to our department, but her experience before joining our institution also revealed her to be the right person for the job. For three years she was Director of People and Culture for a software company called Cartegraph, which employed a mix of on-site and remote staff. Experience in complicated regulatory environments also came for Boothroy while she was Director of Human Resources for the City of Ames and serving in various HR leadership positions in the banking industry.
Boothroy is involved in the Society for Human Resource Management, as well as other professional organizations. An Iowa City native and graduate of Iowa State University, she was previously recognized as one of ‘Forty under 40’ to watch in the Johnson County area.
Boothroy said she is eager to start in this new role. “The volume of activity within the department is a large component of what makes all of UI Health Care so important to the state. The culture of innovation and respect for tradition is one I want to help foster.”
Clinical Department Administrator Denise Zang, MBA, FACMPE, said she was “thrilled” when Boothroy accepted the position. “Kaila has an unmatched mix of experience both in private and public service and in both small, nimble organizations and in larger institutions. That diversity of experience gives her insight that will be invaluable to our department in the years to come.”
