7th Annual Quality and Safety Symposium – Poster Session

The poster session is a linchpin component of every Quality and Safety Symposium, unique among most at the University of Iowa because organizers welcome works in progress. The spirit of collaboration is threaded throughout the rest of the conference and there is no reason that by presenting one’s work to a group of like-minded peers, new ideas or new directions for the work could not emerge.

On the evening of the first day of the QSS, forty researchers from multiple departments and colleges delivered their discoveries to a roving team of judges and other guests. Topics were as varied as the departments that house the presenters. But each of the researchers used elements of teamwork, fresh ways of examining a problem, and a willingness to not take anything for granted.

After the judges scores were tallied the next morning, the following winners–with many ties!–were announced at the second day’s keynote, during Internal Medicine Grand Rounds. Pictures from that portion, including the Poster Pearls selected from abstract submissions delivered earlier in the day, are coming soon.

Congratulations to session organizer, Wendy Fiordellisi, MD, and special thanks to the many people and sponsors who worked behind the scenes to ensure the session was such a success.
