Dr. Andrew Iliff, second-year Hematology and Medical Oncology fellow, was recently elected as a Board Member by the Iowa Oncology Society (IOS). Dr. Iliff is the first fellow to be elected to this board. The IOS is the largest organization of oncologists in the state of Iowa serving many functions, including education and advocacy for issues related to the treatment of cancer in the state of Iowa and nationally. For his part, Dr. Iliff says he hopes to “increase the involvement of fellows with the society and provide a unique perspective of an oncologist-in-training to the board.”

Dr. Iliff was not the only member of the University of Iowa to be recently elected. Dr. Matthew Obinna O. Nwaneri, Clinical Associate Professor of Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation, was also elected to serve on the IOS board. Dr. Nwaneri was also once a fellow here, and returned to Iowa and the Department of Internal Medicine last June from the University of Minnesota to serve as the Medical Director of the UIHC Oncology Network.
Congratulations to both these oncologists who will represent the University of Iowa on the IOS Board.
