Blue for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Members of the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and the Gastrointestinal Surgery Clinic want to spread the word that March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. March 3 was “Dress in Blue Day,” which inspired this photograph, but there will be a strong push all month to increase awareness.

In collaboration with the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable, the Iowa Cancer Consortium has joined the Eighty by 2018 movement, hoping to have 80% of the eligible population screened by 2018. Some estimates place the number of lives potentially saved by hitting this goal at 200,000. For more information about this campaign, please visit the ICC here or watch the quick video below.
