For years, to many around our halls, Dr. David Skorton was a cardiologist you could count on for a good story. The Department of Internal Medicine learned to share him with the Carver College of Medicine, and then with the entire University of Iowa when he became president. The whole institution bid him sad farewell when he left to become president of Cornell University and Cornell got to do the same when he left to become director of the Smithsonian Institution.
The University of Iowa will get to share in the pleasure of his company when he returns on March 30 to Hancher to deliver a talk at 7:30 p.m. entitled, “Education and What We Value: How STEM and the Liberal Arts Nourish Each Other.” To read more about his past association with the University of Iowa, with Internal Medicine, and what it is like for him to return for a visit, Iowa Now has an interview with him here.
