CES Inaugural Drive Focuses on Students

The members of the Department of Internal Medicine’s Community Engagement & Services (CES) committee are launching our inaugural program in support of the Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD).

We are asking everyone to help Iowa City students start off the school year supplied for success. Below is a wish list of new school supplies that we are asking Internal Medicine members to bring in and deliver to one of 10 collection boxes located around the department. Each division administration office as well as the department administration office will have an identified collection box, which we will regularly empty and deliver to ICCSD. UPDATE: This drive will end on Monday, August 13.

As you are getting your own kids ready to go back to school over the next few weeks or just making a household supply run, we hope that you will take a moment to toss an extra pack of pencils or a few folders into your shopping cart.

We will send out some regular encouraging reminders too. Thank you in advance for giving back to the community that supports us! UPDATE: The non-profit that has helped ICCSD in the past with supplies was recently dissolved, so the need for Iowa City students has never been greater!

And, if you are interested in getting involved with CES or have any questions, please contact Rethy Krishnamurthy at rethy-krishnamurthy@uiowa.edu.
