Recent faculty additions, July 2018

The Department of Internal Medicine would like to introduce our new members who joined us in the month of July. We are pleased to welcome them to the department.


Chennamadhavuni~AdithyaAdithya Chennamadhavuni, MBBS – Associate
Hematology, Oncology and Blood & Marrow Transplantation

Dr. Adithya Chennamadhavuni comes to the Division of Hematology/Oncology after serving as a Hospitalist here for a year. He received his MBBS from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India, and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Dr. Chennamadhavuni’s research interests focus on cancer research, such as liquid genomic testing for newly diagnosed lung cancer and melanoma survival after introduction of immunotherapy. Outside medicine, Dr. Chennamadhavuni enjoys nature photography.


ChoChristineChristine Cho, MD – Associate
Infectious Diseases

Dr. Christine Cho joins the Division of Infectious Diseases as an Associate, having completed her fellowship here at UIHC. She received her MD from the Carver College of Medicine, and also completed her Medicine residency here. Dr. Cho’s research interest includes studying the interaction between human neutrophils and Neisseria gonorrhoeae. In her free time, Dr. Cho enjoys spending time with family/friends, watching movies, and running.


KaurAmritAmrit Kaur, MBBS – Associate
Infectious Diseases

Dr. Amrit Kaur comes to the Division of Infectious Diseases as an Associate, after completing her ID fellowship here at UIHC. She received her MBBS from Government Medical College in Amritsar, India, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at Interfaith Medical Center in New York. During her ID fellowship, she was involved in a Quality Improvement project, “Povidone Iodine nasal swab decolonization in surgical holding area for preventing surgical site infections,” at the Iowa City VA. Dr. Kaur’s clinical interests include transplant and general Infectious Diseases. In her spare time she likes spending time with her friends and family and visiting different places.


Rosen~BradleyBradley Rosen, DO – Associate
Pulmonary, Critical Care & Occupational Medicine

Dr. Bradley Rosen comes to the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Occupational Medicine from his previous faculty position in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology. Dr. Rosen received his medical degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, followed by a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at UIHC. After fellowship he devoted three years to developing a research program under the mentorship of Dr. John Engelhardt. His research focuses on interactions between mucus and inflammation in cystic fibrosis (CF) lung disease, how these may initiate and propagate the disease independent of infection. Clinical interests include CF and obstructive lung disease, along with acute/critical care. He sees patients at the Iowa City VA, on the wards and the ICU. Outside of the clinic and lab, Dr. Rosen enjoys ceramics, films and reading for pleasure, and spending time with family.


Shi~QianQian Shi, PhD – Associate
Endocrinology and Metabolism

Dr. Qian Shi joins the Division of Endocrinology as an Associate from her Post-doctoral research position at the University of California-Davis. She received her PhD from the College of Life Science & College of Pharmacy at Nankai University in Tianjin, China. Dr. Shi’s recent research focuses on adrenergic and insulin signaling network in the heart. When not working, she enjoys fishing and hiking with her family.


Souvenir~Rhonda AndreaRhonda Souvenir, PhD – Associate
Endocrinology and Metabolism

Dr. Rhonda Souvenir has recently been appointed to the rank of Associate within the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Souvenir earned her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Loma Linda University in sunny Southern California. She then began a Post-doctoral Fellowship in thrombosis and metabolism in the laboratory of Dr. E. Dale Abel at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She then moved with the Abel laboratory to continue her postdoc here at UI here in 2013. Her primary research interest is mitochondrial metabolism in platelets. She is an avid reader and enjoys cooking her native Guyanese dishes in her spare time.


Zhong~YuanYuan Zhang, PhD – Associate
Endocrinology and Metabolism

Dr. Yuan Zhang was recently appointed to the rank of Associate within the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, from her position as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Dr. Zhang earned her PhD in Molecular Biology from Peking Union Medical College in Beijing, after which she held a Post-doctoral position at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Her research interests focus on the molecular signals coordinating metabolic adaptions to cardiac remodeling. Her hobbies include reading and photography.
