Earlier this fall, our department lost a very talented, vivacious, and driven young physician, Dr. Amarachi Anukam, who suffered with sickle cell disease. After discussions with her parents, internal medicine residents and faculty, and our sickle cell care team, we are pleased to announce the newly established Amarachi Anukam Memorial Fund.
This memorial fund via the University of Iowa Center for Advancement will help support the emergent and continuing care needs of patients with sickle cell disease and their families, including transportation, educational materials, and other health care expenses. It will also be used to support education for resident, fellow, and faculty physicians related to sickle disease and its treatment.
We encourage you to consider supporting this important new development fund. Individuals are welcome to give in the following ways:
- via check (payable to “UICA”) with a note that it should go to the Anukam fund
- online at this link
- via payroll deduction – forms are available in Dr. Suneja’s office, E323 GH.
- via stock or other appreciated asset (e.g. TIAA) – you may contact Alli Ingman directly to facilitate:
