Amy Halvorson Bouffard joins Internal Medicine HR

The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to welcome Amy Halvorson Bouffard, BSW, MBA, SHRM-CP, to our Human Resources team. Bouffard’s first day with us will be January 10. She will assume many of the duties previously held by Ann Howard, but, among her responsibilities, Bouffard will play a role in every aspect of the faculty life cycle, including but not limited to posting open positions, preparing offer letters, and onboarding.

Bouffard joins us already familiar with many aspects of Internal Medicine operations, currently serving as the Grant and Business Manager for Iowa TelePrEP, the telehealth service providing Iowans access to HIV preventive medicine. Other roles within the department and the institution have included work in the Ryan White HIV program and the Patient Access Center. While here, she has overseen accounting, marketing and outreach, and patient education.

“Bouffard’s experience in so many different areas of University of Iowa Health Care will make her an essential part of our HR team,” Rethy Krishnamurthy, SHRM-SCP, Internal Medicine’s HR Director, said. “We’re certain to benefit from her unique perspective.”

Service to community is threaded throughout her career, whether it was as a counselor for youth substance use disorder or a case manager for families experiencing barriers to self-sufficiency. Before joining UI Health Care, Bouffard directed a non-profit that focused on early childhood initiatives in a southeast Iowa county. She was also a clinic and health education manager for Planned Parenthood of the Heartland for nearly five years, managing a staff, budget, and outreach as a provider of women’s and sexual health services, in addition to screening, hiring, and onboarding staff.

“I’m excited to join the Internal Medicine Human Resources team,” Bouffard said. “In such a large department, I know that I’ll see a wide variety of opportunities to connect with faculty and staff. I want to help them perform to the best of their abilities.”
