We are pleased to present the next in our weekly series introducing you to Internal Medicine’s Advanced Practice Providers. In addition to sharing information about where they work in the department, we asked them each to tell us a little bit about their “Why” (the sustaining pull for their work) and what relaxes them. (Read previous weeks’ installments.)
Kelly Preuninger, ARNP, DNP
General Internal Medicine
Services: Hospitalist Service & Cardiology
Years with Internal Medicine: 7 years
Specialty or service I almost chose instead of this one: Dermatology
One of my favorite moments in this job: Seeing our heart failure patients thriving post-transplant. We care for them on their sickest and worst days, so being able to see them healthy and celebrate with them makes it worthwhile.
What restores me for the work: My husband and I have a 6-year-old daughter, a 2-year-old son, and a new baby girl, so we really enjoy our time together as a family. We like camping, boating, and traveling together, and I love watching them learn and explore.
Kelly is very organized, efficient, and knowledgeable. These qualities make her an excellent provider, advocate, communicator, and educator. She is a highly valued member of our team, and we are fortunate to have her as a colleague and friend.
