We are pleased to present the next in our weekly series introducing you to Internal Medicine’s Advanced Practice Providers. In addition to sharing information about where they work in the department, we asked them each to tell us a little bit about their “Why” (the sustaining pull for their work) and what relaxes them. (Read previous weeks’ installments.)
Elly Hinders, DNP
Cardiovascular Medicine
Clinic/Service: Heart and Vascular Center/EP service
Years with Internal Medicine: Less than 1 year
Specialty or service I almost chose instead of this one: Long-term care
One of my favorite moments in this job: Meeting so many new people—the area I work in is full of very bright individuals and there is something to learn from everyone. I also enjoy getting back to one-on-one care of patients. Talking with them and learning their stories makes for a very fulfilling career.
What restores me for the work: My family.
Elly is an expert in device care and I always appreciate her input on patient management. I enjoy working with her as she always has a positive attitude and is ready to learn!

Read what patients say about her:
- Elly is professional, friendly, and caring!
- My experience was very good. Dr Hinders explained in detail my adjustments made to my pacemaker and concerns. She had a follow up call and I gave her my concerns and she addressed them. Her bedside manner was excellent.
- Elly’s attitude/personality was the best thing about my visit.
