He also shows up with a great attitude even when his census carries a challenging population mix. I would be glad to have him care for any of my family members should need ever arise 🙂

I wanted to mention that Cate has been really helping us with NIH submission and reaching out to collaborators to help fix their Bio sketches. She also looked through my budget and several other documents. I must say she has a great eye for finding minute errors. This is what we needed for the division to help faculty submit grants in a timely manner. Somone who can help put together other documents while faculty members are focusing on th science part of proposal. She is a Great Hire.

I asked Lori to help redesign our fellowship website to incorporate several major changes aimed at improving the site’s flow, organization, and overall visual appeal. She turned everything around by the very next day and exceeded my expectations. The finished product was even better than I had envisioned, and her attention to detail and creativity made a significant impact. She did an outstanding job.

Dr. Gebska was my first attending back from maternity leave on Cards teaching. I was nervous for my first week back especially with pumping. Dr. Gebska was amazingly supportive in making sure I had time to pump, did not make me feel like I was an inconvenience to the team. My very first day back right on rounds she said, “Don’t worry, we’re gonna help you!” It made my first transition back seamless and enjoyable.

Dr. Mittal went to see one of her clinic patients in a surgical clinic for an abnormal lab value ordered by a different Medicine specialist, while working on an inpatient service. She stayed and talked with the patient to ensure that he underwent the appropriate work-up for his condition.
Zack Bracken, Resident

Zack went above and beyond in supporting his co-residents, staying late at the VA to help coordinate the emergent transfer of a critically ill patient to the University MICU.
Dr. Bracken is a natural leader. He perfectly balances giving his team members the opportunity to learn knowledge and skills themselves, while also stepping in to provide his own expertise when helpful. He is outstanding with patient care, and is always going above and beyond to ensure his patients are comfortable and happy, beyond just their medical care. He treats every individual in the hospital with the same level of respect, empathy, and kindness. Personalities like his are unique and should be recognized.
Zack has been such a phenomenal senior on VA inpatient service. At the drop of a hat, he is ready and willing to answer any/all questions and tackle challenges together as they arise. He advocates for wellness for all members of the team and truly fosters a positive, welcoming environment for all. It is evident that he both inspires excitement for learning and represents a kind, well-rounded role model for students and residents alike. It has been a pleasure to work with him, and I look forward to more rotations together in the future.
Zack has been an absolute pleasure to work with so far at the VA. He has been a great team leader. His knowledge and kindness are a great asset to the team and his patients. We are all learning so much from Zack about medicine and how to be a good doctor. He has made all of us feel so comfortable working with him and we are always comfortable asking for help because he is always willing to help. I could not speak highly enough of him as our senior resident and hope to be anywhere near as a good a doctor as he is one day.
