Current Topics in Allergy/Immunology, 30 Oct 2026
One of the department’s longest-running continuing medical education conferences, hosted by the Division of Immunology, brought a few dozen regional clinicians for its latest installment for 2026: Novel High-Impact Tools in Allergy/Immunology.
Course Director and Division Director Benjamin Davis, MD, PhD, said that each year he and the course organizers continue to program conference presentations to better reflect the interests of its attendees, while still meeting its traditional reputation for academic rigor. This year, division faculty and fellows were joined by colleagues from the Departments of Pediatrics and of Dermatology, covering wide-ranging topics from atopic dermatitis to the immunologic implications for patients on GLP-1 agonists.
The conference was also a time to catch up with old friends and fellowship alumni in attendance. There was also the opportunity to enter a raffle to win a gift basket complete with a seasonal candle, drink mixes, and mugs. Across the noon hour over lunch, attendees could also either attend the Iowa chapter meeting of the professional organization Society of Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology or industry-sponsored demonstration of patch testing.
The rest of the day met both audience expectation and organizer intention with engaging and at times interactive presentations on the latest and relevant topics in allergy and immunology.
Congratulations to course organizers and thanks to division administrative staff members, Danielle Allen and Sarah Elsayed, for their hard work behind the scenes.
