I’M IOWA’s goal is to provide YOU–our most essential resource–with important updates on HR policies and initiatives, reminders, best practices and events. You’ll hear from us throughout the year and we hope you find this newsletter to be a valuable information source.

The report tells the story of the Health and Productivity units of University HR, including the UI Employee Assistance Program, Family Services, and liveWELL. It also shares how local leaders and champions for health and well-being have brought our programs and services to their faculty and staff. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
With job stress being a major source of tension for American adults resulting in negative impact on health and productivity, consider enrolling in “Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction,” an eight-week program assisting those who want to learn to use their own internal resources to respond more skillfully to stress, medical, psychological conditions, and promote healthy living. Through the practice of mindfulness meditation you may live a full life with greater balance and ease, even amidst the busyness of daily living or the challenges presented by physical or mental health limitations like chronic pain, hypertension, anxiety, and job, school, or family stress. To better attract, recruit and retain talent, the University of Iowa is streamlining the recruitment process by launching a new Jobs at Iowa website and Oracle Talent Acquisition Cloud (OTAC) on September 10. The new site will provide a public-facing gateway to all University of Iowa jobs. Please note: faculty, postdoc, temporary employees, and research intern positions will continue to be posted through the Jobs at Iowa system, while P&S and Merit requisitions will use the new OTAC system.

The University of Iowa is pleased to announce expanded access to UI Benefits for eligible Visiting Faculty. Effective September 1, 2018, Visiting Faculty holding 50% or greater appointments for the duration of an academic year or longer will be eligible for UI Benefits as regular (i.e., non-temporary) employees. These benefits will be consistent with those received by other benefits-eligible faculty and will include access to health and dental insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement programs, and sick leave accrual. The Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD) was informed last spring that its long-time non-profit partner dedicated to school supply drives, Togather Together, had made the difficult decision to dissolve. This created a significant gap for many ICCSD families and students for whom the cost of annual school supplies is unaffordable. The Department of Internal Medicine made a significant donation to help area schools and students by donating more than 850 school supplies! The ICCSD is grateful for your generosity and thanks you on behalf of all the families that will be helped by your

Action Required: Dependent Verification Documentation due September 10, 2018
If you have dependents listed on your UI Choice health plan, please make sure to send the necessary documents to Health Management Systems to verify eligibility by September 10, 2018. Please visit the Dependent Eligibility Verification webpage to obtain a list of the acceptable documentation which may be used to verify eligibility. Information concerning the Dependent Eligibility Verification project can be found on the University Benefits FAQ webpage.

Over 75% of our employees do not have an emergency contact listed on the university Employee Self-Service platform. Please take a moment to log in to Employee Self Service, click on the “Personal” tab, then click on “Emergency Contacts” under the “General” subheading.

Please note your September paycheck is payable on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, as the first business day of September due to the Labor Day holiday.
