After two issues, the Department of Internal Medicine has renamed its annual print publication from Foundations & Innovations to Vitals. As department chair E. Dale Abel, MD, PhD, described the title change in the new issue’s foreword, “The details obtained in an evaluation are a quick snapshot of the spectrum of a person’s health, each data point an indicator of a variety of processes at play.” Though the stories in the magazine are not comprehensive, they are “indicators of the direction our department is headed, a readout of our health.”
As with previous issues under the old title, copies of Vitals have now been mailed to departmental and collegiate leadership at every academic medical center in the country. Copies will also be delivered to our division administration offices for those who are interested in picking up a copy. A digital PDF version is available for download and we have also loaded it into an online reader for anyone who likes to flip through the pages.
We hope you enjoy this issue of Vitals and welcome your feedback. Our special thanks to designers Ann Armstrong and Grace Culbertson for their creativity and diligence on this project. We are already hard at work on next year’s issue.
