Fadi Niyazi, MBBS, has been named medical director of the University of Iowa Health Care Digestive Health Center’s Endoscopy Suite. Niyazi joined our department as faculty only one year ago after completing his gastroenterology fellowship with us. His leadership skills were already on display in that period, serving as Chief Fellow in his final year in the program.

Medical directors function as clinical team leaders and are responsible for aligning their area with hospital initiatives. Their role is to assure cohesive and patient/family centered care is achieved in their area by partnering with nursing and administration to influence and improve quality outcomes.

We know Niyazi will lead the Endoscopy Suite with the same dedication and attention to detail he showed during his fellowship days. Congratulations!
