Trae Stutzman joins the Internal Medicine Human Resources Team

The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to welcome Trae Stutzman to our Human Resources team as an HR Associate. A 2020 graduate of Mount Mercy University with dual degrees in Business Management and Human Resource Management, Stutzman joins us with more than four years’ experience working in human resources.

For the last three years, he has worked in human resources with Mestek Machinery in Cedar Rapids. His responsibilities ranged from on-boarding new hires to navigating federal regulations regarding safety equipment, family and medical leave, and workers’ compensation for employees and for the company. While there he also familiarized himself with the performance reviews process and aided in payroll systems implementation. Before working with Mestek, Stuztman learned other aspects of human resources management as an intern at two other local employers including benefits administration and recruitment.

His training has emphasized sustainability and corporate social responsibility. In the summer of 2021, he also completed an internship with US Pretrial and Probationary Office in pretrial services. He assisted officers in preparing and organizing case files, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Stutzman is excited to broaden his experience in human resources, moving from the private to the public sector. He expects that the same sorts of challenges that he has helped organizations overcome previously will be useful as he confronts challenges in Internal Medicine. He said, “The pandemic has shown us that now more than ever that employment is a two-way street. Human Resources is uniquely positioned to have a direct impact on employees’ professional and personal lives and I look forward to working for such an influential organization.”

Rethy Krishnamurthy, SHRM-SCP, Internal Medicine HR Director, said, “Trae will be a valuable addition to our growing HR team.” Among other responsibilities, he will be the POC for compliances, oversee job shadowing, and assist with implementing mentoring program for new staff. He will be located in SE310 (Internal Medicine Administration).
