The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to introduce some of the faculty members who joined us in July 2022. The group below have joined the Division of General Internal Medicine; new faculty from other divisions will be announced in the coming weeks. We are happy to welcome them to the department.
Matthew Becker, MD – Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Matthew Becker joins the Division of General Internal Medicine after completing his residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He received his MD from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. His clinical and research interests focus on hospitalist medicine and quality improvement. In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, running, biking, playing tennis, and spending time with his wife, Nicole, and their cat, Oliver.
Elyse Brock, MD – Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Elyse Brock joins the Division of General Internal Medicine after completing a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine here. She received her MD from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Brock’s clinical and research interests include medical education, quality improvement, and the intersection between ob/gyn and palliative care. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, Troy, and their four children (Oliver, Evelyn, Leo and Violet), walking their two black labs (Ruger and Remi), and visiting her parents’ lake cabin in South Dakota.
Ian Kidder, MD, MS – Associate
Dr. Ian Kidder comes to the Division of General Internal Medicine after completing his Internal Medicine residency here at University of Iowa Health Care. He received an MS in Physiology from the University of Arizona in Tucson, followed by an MD from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Dr. Kidder ’s research and clinical interests include infectious diseases and health screening. Outside medicine, Dr. Kidder spends his time gardening, hiking, and looking at the moon through his telescope.
Arsenije Kojadinovic, MD – Associate
Dr. Arsenije Kojadinovic joins the Division of General Internal Medicine from his residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai, Bronx, New York. He received his MD from the University of Nis Medical School in Nis, Serbia. Dr. Kojadinovic’s research and clinical interests focus on hematology/oncology and quality improvement. When he’s not at work, Dr. Kojadinovic enjoys being outdoors, reading, and spending time with his family.
Thomas Maloney, DO – Associate
Dr. Thomas Maloney joins the Division of General Internal Medicine having just finished a residency at Freeman Health in Joplin, Missouri. He received his DO from the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Middletown, New York. Dr. Maloney’s clinical and research interests include pulmonary topics, such as COPD and interstitial lung diseases. When not working he likes to run and participate in half-marathons and marathons, outdoor activities, and playing and watching sports.
Paul Mester, MD – Clinical Assistant Professor
Dr. Paul Mester comes to the Division of General Internal Medicine after completing his Internal Medicine residency here at University of Iowa Health Care. He received his MD from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. Dr. Mester’s research and clinical interests focus on medical education. Outside the hospital, he enjoys reading and fitness.
Natdanai (Tee) Punnanithinont, MD, MPH – Associate
Dr. Natdanai Punnanithininont joins the Division of General Internal Medicine from a nocturnist position at North Alabama Hospitalist in Hunstville. Dr. Punnanithinont received his MD from Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University in Thailand, followed by an MPH from Harvard University. He also completed a combined Internal Medicine/General Preventive Medicine residency at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo in New York. Dr. Punnanithinont’s clinical and research interests focus on epidemiology, preventive cardiology, and outcome research. His hobbies include badminton, traveling, and painting.
Dr. Bilal Saeed joins the Division of General Internal Medicine after completing an Internal Medicine residency at MedStart Health in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his MBBS from Ziauddin Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan.
Dr. Eugene Uh joins the Division of General Internal Medicine from a nocturnist position at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. He received his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Granada, West Indies, followed by a medicine residency at Ascension St. John Hospital in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. His clinical and research interests include nephrology and critical care. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Uh likes to spend time with his family and exercise at the gym.
Ratdanai Yodsuwan, MD – Associate
Dr. Ratdanai Yodsuwan joins the Division of General Internal Medicine after completion of his internal medicine residency at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York. Dr. Yodsuwan received his MD from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. His clinical and research interests focus on Hematology/Oncology. When he isn’t working, Dr. Yodsuwan enjoys boating and playing sports (tennis, table tennis, badminton, soccer, etc) in the summer, and in winter he likes watching anime and reading cartoons under a warm blanket (he doesn’t like going outside as it is so freezing cold).
