After a brief pause to introduce our 2022 interns, we are pleased to resume our weekly series introducing you to Internal Medicine’s Advanced Practice Providers. In addition to sharing information about where they work in the department, we asked them each to tell us a little bit about their “Why” (the sustaining pull for their work) and what relaxes them. (Read previous weeks’ installments.)
Marcus Barlow, MMSc, MPH, PA-C
Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine
Service: MICU; QuickCare and Urgent Care Clinic as needed
Years with Internal Medicine: 4 years
Hometown: Schaller, Iowa, The Popcorn Capitol of the World
My “WHY”: Critical Care is fast-paced with ever-changing patient conditions. It’s fulfilling to act on these changing patient statuses and see the results.
What relaxes me: Swimming with my dog at Lake McBride, running, traveling with my partner
Marcus has been a great addition to the MICU APP team. It has been wonderful to watch him grow into an exceptional critical care provider. Marcus has introduced us to many useful educational pieces from blogs to books. He is always sharing new information and keeping up with evidence-based practice. In addition, you can always count on Marcus to provide some great conversation or foodie tips during our down time!
