Fun thing I did on a recent day off: Played golf and had ribs from Pop’s BBQ.
Thing that people are usually surprised to learn about me: I played football in college.
Faculty member who taught me something useful in my first couple weeks at UIHC: Dr. Vandenberg helped me do my first TEE. It was exciting to do my first Cardiology procedure of Fellowship.
Adil Hassan, MD

Area of interest: congenital/interventional cardiology
Why Iowa: I really enjoyed working with everyone here during my residency. I wanted to continue learning with all the great people I met and new friends I made.
Fun thing I did on a recent day off: We took a weekend trip to Devil’s Lake National Park in Wisconsin to see the fall colors; it was amazing!
Thing that people are usually surprised to learn about me: I like to do woodworking and 3D printing.
Faculty member who taught me something useful in my first couple weeks at UIHC: Dr. Streeter spent a lot of time during my first cardiac catheterization rotation to go over catheterization techniques and how to read cath imaging. It was very helpful to have this one-on-one learning opportunity in an area that I did not have any prior experience in.

Why Iowa: The opportunity to train at an academic center with a strong tradition of education and excellence in clinical care. Also, Iowa city is a great place to live and learn, and the people are very nice.
Fun thing I did on a recent day off: I took my family to visit a pumpkin patch.
Thing that people are usually surprised to learn about me: I am fluent in French, which is my first language.
Senior fellow who taught me something useful in my first couple weeks at UIHC: I started my cardiology fellowship in the catheterization lab. Our two interventional fellows, Jai and Ahmed, were always available to teach and answer my questions, which was very helpful for me and made my cath rotation an excellent learning experience
