Heartland Lead Management Symposium, 2026
The University of Iowa Health Care Heart and Vascular Center partnered with Mayo Clinic, Northwestern University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Minnesota for the 2026 Heartland Lead Management Symposium, held Oct. 23-24 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Iowa City.
The symposium brought together health care professionals to discuss advances in electrophysiology lead and device management, focusing on improving procedural safety and patient outcomes. The Oct. 23 fellows event included a case-based debate on whether to extract a device lead and a hands-on activity sponsored by Phillips.
The Oct. 24 conference covered extraction techniques, high-risk cases, strategies for managing complications, and more. Sessions also explored the role of infectious disease specialists in extraction decisions, leadless pacemaker extractions, and planning for device replacement.
Through case discussions and presentations on lead extraction and device management, attendees could build on their knowledge of the techniques and clinical decisions involved in caring for patients with cardiac devices. Until next year!
