After years of service to Cardiovascular Medicine, Division Administrator Jonathan Bluemke announced his decision earlier this year to leave UI Health Care for a full-time position within the VA, deepening a relationship he already had with the National Guard. Now that his successor, Molly Flynn, has been named and on-boarded and Bluemke can get her up to speed, the countdown clock to his departure next month has begun in earnest. As much as he wanted to slip out characteristically humbly and quietly, his colleagues were unwilling to accommodate.

Last week the division hosted a lunch taco bar, inviting Bluemke’s friends and co-workers to let him know how much he has meant to them and the department before he leaves. We all wish him the very best.
