Thomas O’Dorisio Memorial Lecture, 2025

The Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism has sponsored a lecture series named in honor of Thomas O’Dorisio, MD, an international leader in neuroendocrine tumor treatment and research and a beloved colleague. Each invitation to a visiting professor to deliver the named lecture is an opportunity to demonstrate O’Dorisio’s impact globally and for the division to celebrate his memory.

This year, they invited Tobias Else, MD, a professor of medicine at the University of Michigan. Else’s clinical and research focus is also on endocrine tumors as well as genetic predispositions. Else delivered two presentations, both at the Endocrinology Grand Rounds as well as the Internal Medicine Grand Rounds while also spending time with division members.

At each presentation, Division Director Ayotunde Dokun, MD, PhD; Joseph Dillon, MD; and Brian O’Neill, MD, PhD, each spoke briefly before Else both to introduce the visitor as well as to speak to O’Dorisio’s impact and memory.
