On the unseasonably mild evening of Friday, February 16, Department of Internal Medicine residents, administrative teammates, and their loved ones gathered at Wildwood Smokehouse & Saloon in Iowa City for the annual Resident Winter Social.
With many clad in flannel, attendees arrived to the reserved balcony level to be greeted with pool tables, a private bar decorated with permanent twinkle lights, and an endless buffet of hot snacks that included potato wedges, quesadillas, and Wildwood’s famous frickles (fried pickles).
As the night went on, guests were treated to the live musical stylings of Linc Henriksen and The Drifters, a country music cover band with their own fan club, who eagerly waited on the dance floor for them to start their set.
Those at the social sang along from the rafters to some songs, enjoying what felt like a private show, to end the evening.
