A yearly tradition that comes on the heels of Match Day is presenting the updated map showing where our residents over the last five years attended medical school. The Carver College of Medicine produces a map showing where graduating medical students go for residency, and we also produce a map showing where our Internal Medicine residents go to fellowship. Those maps show what the University of Iowa can do for medical students and residents. The one below shows where our pitch lands for graduating medical students around the United States and beyond.
Each year when we update this Incoming Resident map to keep it at a rolling five-year representation, we prefer to remove fewer schools and add more to the previous year’s map. This year we have added eleven:
- Albany Medical College
- Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School
- California Northstate University College of Medicine
- Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
- King Edward Medical University
- Minia University Faculty of Medicine
- Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine
- University of Michigan Medical School
- University of Oklahoma-Tulsa School of Community Medicine
- Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine
- Yarmouk University Faculty of Medicine
Seven schools—Creighton University School of Medicine, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, Stanford University School of Medicine, University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, University of Iceland Faculty of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and University of South Carolina School of Medicine—have been removed.
