The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to introduce Nicole Carney as the newest member of the administrative team. Carney will work closely with the Human Resources team to provide credentialing and onboarding services. She will also support the department’s vice chairs and work in coordination with Sherry Mattison to support the operations of the Chair’s Office. Carney’s first day will be on Monday, Oct. 14.
Carney brings more than 25 years of professional experience to the role, having worked in health systems and Human Resources teams throughout her career. Most recently, she has worked for Fleet Farm in Cedar Rapids, managing all HR functions for the company from recruitment to performance management, and pioneering a companywide effort to improve employee engagement and retention.
“I am looking forward to joining UI Health Care because I believe working to support the health care team is very rewarding,” Carney said. “I also believe in UIHC’s mission in providing top-notch health care to patients and their families.”
This year, Carney graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Business in Human Resource Management, following her previous degree in the applied sciences. In her free time, she enjoys traveling to Minnesota to watch her son play college football, and spending time doing home improvement activities with the company of her dogs.
“We are happy that Nikki applied for this position,” HR Director, Kaila Boothroy, said of her hire. “She brings experience in employee engagement and retention with her, which will directly play into supporting the five missions that our new Chair, Upinder Singh, has outlined for the future of our department. Her skill set complements the needs of the department, and we’re glad to have her join our team.”
