In true Mischief Night fashion, Department of Internal Medicine residents celebrated the spooky season by carving Iowa- and Medicine-inspired pumpkins during the regularly scheduled Noon Conference on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The Bean Conference Room’s walls were aglow with Halloween-themed lights, fall foliage, giant spiderwebs, and more. Breakfast was served for lunch, and candy, cider, and cider-flavored doughnuts were dessert. A Halloween playlist including the season’s theme song, “Monster Mash,” was piped through the sound system, energizing teams to finish five impressive pumpkins by the end of the hour. Chief Resident Rachel Anderson, MD took photos of the ghoulish gourds, posting them to Instagram for the public to vote on their favorite.
The results were announced on the social media channel over the weekend: “The voters have spoken. Congratulations to Haunted Herk daddy (especially the artists – Stacy Moroz, Peter Sanchez and Stefano Byer – mostly Stacy) for winning the pumpkin carving contest!!”
