Below are those named to this month’s Internal Medicine Honor Roll—an employee recognition program where team members (providers, staff, etc.) can recognize other team members who are doing great things.
We are pleased to recognize their contributions!
Milena Gebska, Clinical Professor
Cardiovascular Medicine
Anonymous nomination
Dr. Gebska has been my mentor for the past three years. As a PhD student looking to get more clinical experience, she has been more than welcoming. I have shadowed her and worked with her research team. I have learned so much about what it means to be a doctor and prioritize the patient’s needs from her. I cannot think of a more empathetic and compassionate person than Dr. Gebska. Internal Medicine is incredibly fortunate to have her on the team!
Jeffrey Wilson, Clinical Professor
Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medixine
Anonymous nomination
Dr. Wilson has continually provided helpful discussion about patients and helped to coordinate care.
Sabrina Tan, Associate Professor
Infectious Diseases
Anonymous nomination
Dr. Tan is taking care of a mutual patient. They have not always chosen to consistently return to providers and have come back to see Dr. Tan. When the patient had an additional complicating factor Dr. Tan quickly responded to my question and offered to assist so this patient can pursue the best possible treatment.
Lori Strommer Pace, Creative Media Developer
Internal Medicine
Nominated by Monica Bogaard
Lori was instrumental in helping with migrating and launching the new ACRC website. She is very knowledgeable about the new website platform and was very helpful in explaining the changes. She willingly helped streamline the upgrades and the content to the new site. We appreciated her assistance very much.
Stefano Byer, Second-Year Resident
Internal Medicine
Anonymous nomination
Dr. Byer is a great resident who leads the team so well. He is kind in his demeanor and astute in his clinical judgement and observations. He is an excellent clinical mentor for junior residents and medical students on the team. I appreciate the compassionate care that he provides to his patients and that he takes time to teach his colleagues whenever he can.
Yana Zemkova, Third-Year Fellow

Justin Holmes, Third-Year Fellow

Rhonda Anderson, Secretary II
Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation
Anonymous nomination
Rhonda did an amazing job taking on new tasks when one of Admin team members was out of the office due to an injury. Thank you, Rhonda, for all of your hard work!
Kim Nichols, Administrative Services Coordinator
Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation
Anonymous nomination
A belated kudos to Kim Nichols, who stepped up in a BIG way when Hem-Onc was between Division Coordinators. She learned lots of new things and did them well!
Taylor Becker, First-Year Fellow
Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine
Anonymous nomination
Taylor puts all her energy into her job, and works hard to advocate for not only patients, but for her colleagues. She is always seeking ways to help a co-fellow finish their work so they can go home, or helping residents feel supported in a busy ICU. Plus, she does it with a great attitude and enthusiasm.
Martha Carvour, Assistant Professor
Infectious Diseases
Nominated by Aloha Wilks
Dr. Carvour consistently delivers to student leaders within and outside her lab as an Assistant Professor, patients as a dedicated infectious disease specialist, and Principal Investigator of a cross-campus equity research team of faculty, staff, and student leaders.
Juno Sung, First-Year Resident
Internal Medicine
Anonymous nomination
Excellent attitude and genuine interest to learn in MICU. Strong foundations of knowledge that easily applied to clinical scenarios.
Ryan Boudreau, Associate Professor
Cardiovascular Medicine
Nominated by Jasmyn Hoeger
He goes above and beyond for undergraduate and graduate students working in his lab. I am currently applying for biomedical sciences graduate schools, and over the last couple of weeks he has spent several hours giving me advice on things to consider in programs, sharing potential mentors with me who fit my research interests, and listening to my concerns. He challenges me and other students to think critically about our data allowing us to learn how to interpret different outcomes. I wouldn’t be the individual, student, or researcher I am today without the mentorship Dr. Ryan Boudreau has provided me over the last couple of years. He deserves to be recognized for his dedication to cutting-edge research and the next generation of scientists.
Jack Oller, Human Resources Coordinator
Internal Medicine
Anonymous nomination
We are so lucky to have Jack in this department. He has become such an asset to HR. He answers any questions/emails almost immediately. I hope he sticks around for a long time.
Alice Xu, Third-Year Resident
Internal Medicine
Nominated by Kevin Glenn
Our team has a very sick patient recently transferred from the ICU requiring extensive workup and testing who speaks no English. The translator device is intermittently helpful. Dr. Xu stepped in and arranged for a nurse who speaks the patient’s native language to assist. Despite the patient’s DPOA being in a foreign country with limited electrical service and intermittent cell coverage, Dr. Xu has coordinated communications through the nurse and a local aunt in the U.S., who then relays information to the patient’s mother. Dr. Xu has even stayed late into the evening to ensure these communications are successfully completed. Dr. Xu has listed herself “on call” for any procedure that’s going to be done in case the patient has questions. Not only has she assured better care for the patient, but her example has motivated others to “facilitate changes [in his care] that foster equity and inclusion” (quote from Our Mission).
