Mike Tabet, Third-Year Resident
Internal Medicine
Nominated by Jennie Houser

While I was on surgical co-management, I received a consult on a patient who was acutely ill. I was concerned that I would need additional help in managing this patient given the level of acuity or that I would have to call for an RRT. Mike recognized that I was worried and, without hesitating at all, offered to join me to see the patient, even though he was on a completely different consult service. When we arrived, he was calm and professional, taking the time to properly introduce himself while shaking the patient’s hand, and spoke to him at his eye level. He made me feel supported and comfortable in asking for help. His calm demeanor and respect towards the patient created trust in his abilities as a physician, from both the patient and me.
