Allergy / Immunology and Rheumatology fellowships graduation, 2025

The Division of Immunology has sponsored two fellowship programs for decades and a third for more than a decade. The Allergy/Immunology Fellowship and Rheumatology Fellowship programs have such natural overlaps, that the division has also sponsored the creation of a dual-track fellowship. Though none of this year’s graduates chose the fast-track route to double-certification, all three graduates got the benefit of a tight-knit division that has been deeply invested in their growth and success.

Celebrating all three together was also a natural fit as guests came together at a hotel in view of Kinnick Stadium and the University of Iowa Health Care university campus.

During a social hour and a buffet-style dinner, a slideshow of moments from throughout the fellows’ time at Iowa played across a digital monitor. Division Director Ben Davis, MD, PhD, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude for the contributions to the division’s success from the fellows as well as the other members.

Bharat Kumar, MD, MME, program director for the rheumatology fellowship, then spoke about the pair of graduates, listing their achievements and their contributions both material and intangible to the program and division. He was followed by Amy Dowden, MD, program director for the allergy/immunology fellowship, who did the same for this year’s graduate.

Davis also recognized, to applause from all assembled, the contributions of the division’s support staff, who planned that evening’s event and support all of the division’s many other activities throughout the year.

After the presentation of gifts to the graduates, guests continued to socialize, many lining up for group photos.

Congratulations to this year’s graduates!
