Earlier this month, faculty, staff, and of course, fellows and their families gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Coralville for a celebration of 2025’s Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowship graduates.
Program Coordinator Jana Ringle greeted guests at the door, guiding them to an array of charcuterie and beverages for cocktail hour. Guests mingled until an elevated buffet was served for dinner, and the ceremonial program began.
First, Hematology-Oncology Program Director, Grerk Sutamtewagul, MD, announced milestone years of service in the division. Awards were then distributed by Sutamtewagul and Associate Program Director, William Zeitler, MD, MPH, to the Faculty Teacher of the Year, Nicole Fleege, MD, and to the APP of the Year, Shannon Kussatz, ARNP, NDP.
Then it was time for the main event, recognizing the fellowship graduates themselves and a few group photos.
