Rehbein named first Hospital Medicine division administrator

The Department of Internal Medicine is pleased to announce that Dominica Rehbein, MHA, MPH, PMP, has been appointed as the Division Administrator for the Division of Hospital Medicine, effective October 27.

Rehbein holds Master of Health Administration and Master of Public Health in Health Policy degrees from the University of Iowa and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). She has demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing care delivery models, operational efficiency, and staff engagement across complex healthcare systems.

Rehbein brings a wealth of experience in healthcare leadership and operations in a variety of settings. Most recently, she served as Clinic Manager for Family Medicine at the University Campus location, where she oversaw a practice with more than 50 clinicians, including residents and fellows. She also led more than 30 staff members in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. Her prior roles include Senior Project Manager in the Health System Implementation Office at Iowa, which included launching the nurse navigation system in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and helping manage staff reassignment efforts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Before returning to Iowa, she served as Group Practice Director for the Orthopedic Service Line at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, where she managed large-scale service line operations across multiple hospitals and clinics.

“Dominica’s leadership experience and her strong background in both operations and strategic project implementation within UI Health Care make her a tremendous asset to our department,” said Grant Worthington, MHA, MS, Department Administrative Officer for the Department of Internal Medicine. “Her collaborative approach and commitment to excellence align perfectly with our mission to provide outstanding patient care and support to our clinical teams.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Dominica to the Division of Hospital Medicine,” said Jeydith Gutierrez, MD, MME, Interim Division Director. “Her proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive innovation will strengthen our division’s efforts to enhance hospital medicine services and support our faculty and staff.”

For her part, Rehbein is excited to help chart the path forward for the department’s newest division. “I am truly honored to join the Division of Hospital Medicine and to collaborate with such a dedicated and talented team,” Rehbein said. “After my first week, I am only more excited to work on our division’s goals and priorities, building on the strong foundation already in place.”

Outside of work, Rehbein spends her time with her husband, Matt, and two sons, aged 5 and 1. She enjoys coffee, reading, line dancing, and has recently started learning Mandarin Chinese with her oldest son. She volunteers on the board of her son’s daycare and is looking forward to running in an upcoming fall fun run at Colony Acres in North Liberty.

Please join us in welcoming Dominica Rehbein to her new role.
