Eileen Fuerstenberg, Human Resources Specialist
Internal Medicine
Anonymous nomination

Eileen’s attention to detail and organization of the onboarding process is crucial. She does everything possible to make the process as seamless as possible for candidates and the divisions.

Maile Moorehead, Physician Assistant
Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Anonymous nomination

Maile is an outstanding PA who is team oriented and strives to provide exceptional patient care. She is vested in the betterment of her APP colleagues. She developed an Epic template to be used while prepping for procedural consents which ultimately saved her colleagues hours in prep time. Maile works with new APPs in the onboarding process by lending her time and expertise in the clinic setting. She provides opportunity to write notes, obtain HPIs, and discuss A&Ps providing appropriate feedback for their betterment. She is a true asset to this division, patients, and colleagues.

Elizabeth Bowen, Clinical Assistant Professor
Endocrinology & Metabolism
Nominated by Bianca Carlson

Dr. Bowen has time and time again stepped up to help cover the APP inpatient lists when last minute coverage is needed. This has truly lifted a tremendous weight off our team’s shoulders and is appreciated more than she knows. We are grateful to have her as part of our team.

Reed Johnson, Clinical Assistant Professor
General Internal Medicine
Nominated by Wendy Fiordellisi

I was supervising a resident caring for a patient who needed a joint aspiration. This is not a procedure I do. Dr. Johnson came over to teach the resident and perform the procedure, despite being in the middle of his own acute care clinic with another resident. He is a fantastic teacher and helped us provide excellent patient care.

Naomi Fei, Clinical Assistant Professor
Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation
Anonymous nomination

Dr. Fei is simply the best! I appreciate all that she does for her patients and for our division so much. Many could learn from Dr Fei on how calmly she runs her team and clinic. She is never flustered and always working with a smile. Iowa is truly lucky to have an oncologist like Dr Fei.

Amanda Karanikolas, Nurse Practitioner
Nephrology & Hypertension
Anonymous nomination

Amanda and I share a lot of patients. I appreciate that she values her relationships with patients. She remembers little things about them and seems to understand the whole picture. There is a lot of overlap in what I am doing for a mutual patient and what she is doing, and I feel the good communication we have helps us make sure we are addressing everything.

Maile Moorehead, Physician Assistant
Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Anonymous nomination

Maile has dedicated her time to mentor the new APP hires during their onboarding. She is an invaluable asset to this division.

Brianne Foulker, Nurse Practitioner
Endocrinology & Metabolism
Anonymous nomination

I work in the same division as Brianne and interface with her patients a lot, both in the clinic when she can’t see them, and when they come to the hospital. They are always very well taken care of from a diabetes perspective and they all value their relationship with Brianne. One time she went above and beyond for one of her patients who was end of life, and I know the patient and all involved appreciated it.

Prajwal Gurung, Associate Professor
Infectious Diseases
Nominated by RP

Dr. Prajwal is always ready to help whenever needed. I also found the lab environment to be very friendly and welcoming, whenever I worked there.

Jenny Strouse, Clinical Assistant Professor, Rheumatology
Taylor Cox, Clinical Assistant Professor, General Internal Medicine
Nominated by Matthew Soltys

I want to thank Taylor and Jenny for helping me put on our IM8460 Course – Transition to IM Residency. Without their help we would have not been able to offer this course. The feedback from the 28 students who took the course was beyond amazing and they deserve to be recognized.

David Munn, Administrative Services Coordinator
Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation
Anonymous nomination

Despite being relatively new to our Division, David stepped in and did an excellent job taking on additional tasks while another admin was out of the office for an extended period of time. Thank you, David, for all your hard work.

David Munn, Administrative Services Coordinator
Hematology, Oncology, and Blood & Marrow Transplantation

David has done a great job covering for [another team member] while doing his own work and being very helpful to our department. Thanks to David.

Amy Ollinger, Clinical/HC Research Manager
Cardiovascular Medicine
Nominated by Alyssa Pihl

With short notice, Amy accommodated a patient by meeting with them at IRL. This resulted in the patient enrolling into a research study. Amy has a strong commitment to research and always goes out of her way to accommodate patients.

Lisa Harmon, Nurse Practitioner
Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine
Anonymous nomination

Lisa took great time and effort with a challenging RSCCU patient, developed a relationship with a patient’s mother that was key to success. Lisa’s effort made all the difference in being able to work towards discharge in this lengthy stay. Her compassion and clinical skill are a credit to the department.
