Internal Medicine Emeritus Faculty Luncheon

On Tuesday, May 23, the Department of Internal Medicine hosted its greatest repository of wisdom, experience, and advice–our Professors Emeritus—for its annual luncheon. About three dozen faculty members, their spouses, and others came together on the Second Balcony of the gorgeously remodeled Hancher Auditorium. Many had not seen each other since the previous year’s luncheon, relying on this yearly event to reminisce and catch-up on recent life events.

Department Chair Dr. Dale Abel was also in attendance. After the meal concluded, he briefly addressed the guests, thanking them for their decades of service to the Department and inviting them to return more frequently. He described the ways in which their insight and perspective could not only still prove useful to the Department’s missions, but could indeed bolster growth and success as a vitally important but underused resource.

A special thank you to those members who joined us for lunch this week, to the UI Foundation for organizing the event, and to Hancher Auditorium for hosting.
